2025 HONOREE:  BRENT CHESNEY

Leadership Corpus Christi - Class XVI

LCC General Chair - Class XXII

This year, Leadership Corpus Christi proudly honors Brent Chesney, Nueces County Commissioner for Precinct 4, as our Distinguished Alumni. Currently serving his third elected term, Commissioner Chesney has been a dedicated public servant and an unwavering supporter of Leadership Corpus Christi throughout his career.

A proud alumnus, Chesney was a member of Leadership Corpus Christi Class 16 and later served as Chair of Class 22. His commitment to the program has extended far beyond his own class. Over the years, he has taken on numerous leadership roles within the organization, including serving on various Selection Committees and acting as its Chair on one occasion. Brent has been a regular presenter to both current and past classes, sharing his insights and encouraging emerging leaders to engage with their communities meaningfully.

Chesney exemplifies the spirit of "paying it forward." He has continuously applied the leadership principles he learned through the program to his public service and community engagement. His dedication to making a difference has earned him the respect of his peers and the gratitude of countless community members.

Before becoming County Commissioner, Chesney was elected four times as an at-large Corpus Christi City Councilman. He also served as the Presiding Judge of Nueces County Court at Law No. 5. Over his distinguished career, he has held positions on numerous local boards, commissions, and charitable organizations—too many to list—all while continuing to serve as County Judge Pro Tem and Mayor Pro Tem during his time on the City Council.

Brent's leadership is deeply rooted in his personal values. A man of strong faith, he credits his relationship with God as a guiding force throughout his life. As a devoted husband to Ashley and father to Joshua and Gabriel, Brent strives to keep his priorities in order: God, family, friends, and community.

His long-standing support of Leadership Corpus Christi is a testament to his belief in the power of leadership development. Brent believes that leadership is not just about holding a position—it’s about standing for something and taking action. As he often says, “It’s easy to be against something. The real challenge in public service is to be for something and make it happen. That is true leadership.”

For his enduring contributions, commitment to public service, and unwavering support of Leadership Corpus Christi, we are honored to recognize Brent Chesney as this year’s Distinguished Alumni Award recipient.
